From the client's point of view, it is nice to meet and talk face to face with the individual who is designing and developing your website. From the developer's point of view, I get a better feel for my client's needs. However, meeting in person is not always possible. In cases where meetings are not possible, I encourage virtual meetings held by Skype-ing. or even something as simple as instant messaging.
